Santa Ynez

I fell in love with Santa Ynez a couple years ago... perusing Bed and Breakfasts for a quaint weekend getaway, I came across one atop a mountain overlooking fields of oaks and vineyards. It had potential, so I booked it. During our drive up the narrow road, through the oaks and grasses glowing in the afternoon sun, I knew we were experiencing something special. In fact, I still feel that every time I visit. The hosts are amazing, and its European feel makes us think we are farther than the 2 hour drive it takes to get us there.  It has become our escape, our second home, to run, to read, to bask in the glorious Southern California light.

Sorry, I'm not quite ready to divulge where this haven is. For now it's my secret sanctuary.

I have a new love... her name is Santa Ynez

Sometimes the best things are just stumbled upon. The B&B looked quite lovely from the website, but as we drove up through the majestic oaks, I knew something special awaited. In fact, the whole Santa Ynez Valley was intoxicating with its vibrant fall colors and aromas of sage and dry grasses drifting in the breeze.

This truly is a special place... and I can't wait to go back.
